The same topic, answered differently
ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overview answer the same question differently. A brand that comes up often in one engine can be absent from another. Looking at topics and engines together shows where effort will pay off.
Darker cells mean higher mention rates. Read across a row for differences between engines, down a column for differences between topics.
Topic by engine
The Mention rate by topic table puts topics in rows and engines in columns, with the mention rate in each cell.
- Darker cells mean higher rates, and the top band is blue so strong spots stand out.
- Each column header shows that engine's overall rate, and the Overall column on the right gives each topic's combined rate.
- Click a column name to sort by that engine. The table opens sorted by Overall.
- The header and the Overall row stay pinned, so you can compare while scrolling a long list of topics.
- Click a topic to open its answers and prompts in a side panel.
Switch to a competitor
Pick a competitor in the brand selector above the table and the same table redraws for that brand, so you can set the topics and engines where they are strong beside your own.
With the charts above
Higher up the same screen are the Mention rate trend for the period, the Share of Voice bar, and a table of Rate and SoV by brand. Narrow them by engine with the engine icons and by topic with All topics.
Read the overall trend from the charts, then split it by topic and engine in the heatmap. The example uses a fictional brand.
